Q1: When did you decide to become an author? What drove you to that decision?

I started writing children’s books in October last year. My 11-year-old son had a writing competition at school and since I used to write when I was younger I decided to start writing again at the age of 45!

Q2: Were there instances when you wanted to give up? What made you stay the course?

Since I am a relatively new author, I am still focused on succeeding. The only tricky part is running my own accounting firm and doing the writing and self-publishing, it does get very tiring sometimes.

Q3: What tools/strategies have you used to promote your writing?

Social Media mainly. I have also done a lot of research and tried to use the tips from there e.g. book readings, contacting local bookstores, etc.

Q4: What is the best advice you can give to an aspiring Children’s Book Author?

Never give up! It’s hard work but it’s worth it.

Q5: What would you be doing if you were not an author?

As I mentioned in my previous answer, I am an accountant and tax practitioner by profession but my goal is to be a full-time author by the end of the year. If I wasn’t an author or an accountant I would love to something in sports.

Q6: Is financial stability ever a worry/issue for you as an author?

Not really, I am very driven and I know that if I can achieve my goals, the financial rewards will follow.

Q7: How big of a role did education play in your current success?

Huge! Without education, I would not be where I am today and I am grateful to my parents and my teachers for that.

Q8: Tell us about your recent best-selling book Donk and the Stubborn Donkeys.

Donk is a curious donkey who wants to find out why the farmer constantly calls all the donkeys stubborn. He meets a fairy donkey called Jack who will hopefully give him the answer he is looking for. I wrote this book when I was 10/11 and I won an award for it at school.
