Daimon Hellstrom is one of the darkest characters ever created for Marvel comics. After the success of characters like the Ghost Rider, Stan Lee wanted to capitalize on the growing popularity of occult characters. He proposed a new series about the devil. Editor Roy Thomas decided that a new series about the devil’s son would be much less controversial and thus Daimon Hellstrom The Son of Satan was born.
The Hell-Lords wanted a mortal vessel to use as a gateway to the human world so Satan disguised himself as a human. He started a family in Fire Lake, Massachusetts. Daimon Hellstrom was born to Satan and Victoria Wingate. The child came into the world with a pentagram on his chest. 3 years later his sister Satanna was born. Daimon’s mother was institutionalized after observing her husband and daughter performing a satanic ritual in the basement of their house.
Daimon attended a monastery to become a priest in his later years but soon discovered his true lineage. His father brought him to Hell and asked Daimon to serve under him. Daimon rejected Satan and tried to defeat him. He was unsuccessful but began his crusade to rid the Earth of demonic entities once he returned home. As the Son of Satan, Daimon has many supernatural abilities including superstrength and the ability to command hellfire.
