Beware! Spoiler alert!
Recap:
Harley is still a captive of The Magistrate. She is under Crane’s supervision and making him regret every second of their time together. Crane is becoming unhinged to the point of no return. The pressure of pleasing The Magistrate and the lack of respect he has received is causing him to reconsider his decisions. His old persona beckons him constantly.
Black Mask has continued to skillfully evade them. Crane loses it and decides that the only way he can catch Black Mask and get the respect he deserves is by donning a mask of his own. He decides to reprise his Scarecrow persona. Harley, Scarecrow and Black Mask converge on the same point separately. Only one can be the victor.
While Black Mask and Scarecrow battle Harley Cracks Scarecrow with a bat. This force causes Scarecrow to collapse as Harley steals his powerful mask. She uses it to unleash fear toxin on Black Mask, scaring him out of his mind. Harley escapes with the mask and successfully frees herself from the captivity of The Magistrate.
Review:
Harley is back! She is free and ready to take on the corrupt authority figures that captured her in the first place. As expected, she evaded Scarecrow and came out on top. She effortlessly defeated not one but two of the most feared villains in Batman’s gallery of rogues singlehandedly. This run took some time to really pick up but Harley is ready to face the world. She is finally a free woman and can do as she pleases.
Harley is not one to let things go. She clearly will seek retribution against The Magistrate. Her next step will most likely be to recruit others to join her cause. The Future better beware. Harley is on the loose and she is out for payback! Her wit, charm, and trusty bat can solve any problem, one way or another.
This run has not been the strongest so far. It has potential now since Harley is no longer under the control of The Magistrate. Harley hasn’t changed a bit. But is it enough to keep readers interested in this storyline?
