In the fall of 2018, Insomniac released the critically acclaimed Spider-Man game. Soon, its sequel, Spider-Man 2, will be available on PlayStation 5. This sequel will feature Spider-Man (Peter Parker) collaborating with the newer Spider-Man (Miles Morales). Together, they face multiple new enemies. The game will expand on the adventures of both Spider-Men and introduce characters like Harry Osborn, Kraven the Hunter, The Lizard, and Venom.

The first game hinted at Spider-Man’s relationship with Dr. Curt Connors, also known as The Lizard. Now, Connors and his alter ego will play significant roles in the sequel. After the Marvel Comics event Secret Wars, Spider-Man returned with a new costume from his space adventures. Spider-Man 2 will also explore the alien costume saga, where the hero is affected by an alien symbiote. This storyline, which spans almost a decade, leads to the emergence of Venom, a result of the symbiote’s influence on both Spider-Man and Eddie Brock.

While Eddie Brock hasn’t been introduced yet, the game will present a unique interpretation of Venom. Apart from Venom and The Lizard, Kraven the Hunter is another adversary for the Spider-Men. Kraven, a classic Spider-Man foe, is gaining attention in various media. The game might draw inspiration from Kraven’s Last Hunt, a 1987 comic arc where Kraven ‘defeats’ Spider-Man. Although the symbiote isn’t central to this story, Spider-Man wears a black costume resembling it.

Spider-Man 2 will also feature villains like Tombstone, The Prowler, Black Cat, Mister Negative, and Norman Osborn. Osborn hasn’t become the Green Goblin yet, suggesting this transformation might occur in a future game. Nonetheless, the game promises a plethora of characters and hints at upcoming developments.

The exciting new video game is slated to hit retailers on October 20, 2023, for $69.99. Will you be getting a copy?
