Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman’s King in Black event has finally begun. Knull The God of Symbiotes has descended upon Earth with an army, unlike anything the planet has ever seen in 80 years of Marvel Comics. But how is that possible? Simple, Knull is the oldest creature in the Marvel Comics galaxy, with the exception of Galactus, who is from a different galaxy entirely.
The void that was space before the creation of stars, planets, and other lifeforms was his home until The Celestials ruined his solitude. Knull created the first symbiote from his shadow to combat The Celestials. He forged the All-Black, a sword made of living darkness, capable of injuring Gods like The Celestials.
Knull’s reign of terror was eventually ended when his creations, the symbiotes, rebelled against him and trapped him in the planet-sized symbiote cage known as Klyntar. Carnage and Knull’s followers on Earth helped free The God of Symbiotes by gathering symbiote remnants from every host on the planet. Knull was strengthened and broke free from his prison, bending all the symbiotes that formed his prison to his will.
The newly freed Knull began his crusade across the galaxy consuming everything he came across and repurposing it for his army. His darkness has spread across the universe on his way to find Eddie and Dylan Brock on Earth. On December 2nd Knull finally arrived on Earth and the symbiote invasion began. Knull’s Grendel dragons demolished Earth’s defenses including The Avengers and The X-Men. He brought conquered Celestials to Earth for good measure creating an impossible challenge for the heroes of Earth.
Knull and his army are on Earth, and it looks like they are there to stay with many of the planet’s greatest heroes already defeated in the 1st issue of the crossover event. Knull has turned the Earth into the new Klyntar. It seems like there is no hope left as the darkness spreads across every inch of the planet. Can Venom put a stop to the terror that The God of Symbiotes has rained down upon Earth?
