Wakanda forever!
Fans will be able to re-live the Wankandan experience. Ryan Coogler announced a 5-year exclusive TV deal for his Proximity Media company with Disney+ on Monday.
The Marvel Black Panther director has been lending his talents to another series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe whilst also working on the sequel to Black Panther, and it is expected to be released on July 8th, 2022.
Following the success of WandaVision and The Mandalorian, Coogler is to develop an unnamed series based on the fictional nation of Wakanda.
It was not surprising to anyone that Coogler directed Black Panther after he earned praise and accolades for his films Creed and Fruitvale Station. Black Panther came to be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to win various Oscars like Best Original Score, Best Costume Design, and Best Production Design. The film raked in an extraordinary $1.3 billion, it was the highest-grossing film by a Black director and the 12th highest-grossing film ever, peaking at the 9th highest grossing.

Although no subtle elements about Ryan Coogler’s angle for the new series have been uncovered, there is a bounty of possibilities from Marvel Comic that would make for an amazing storyline. Nonetheless, whether the spin-off is set after the story of Black Panther II, or sometime before the first film, there is a deep tapestry of history to deliver.
Since the untimely passing of Chadwick Boseman last year, Black Panther’s star, after a four-year battle with colon cancer, fans have been wondering what is to come. Now, whilst producers have declared that Boseman’s character would not be reprised in the upcoming sequel, it has still left unanswered questions such as what is next for Wakanda? There are no major details about the film or series available yet be we know one thing for sure: Wakanda will survive and thrive forever, as does the legacy of the great Chadwick Boseman.
